When you would need to have your teeth whitened
Sometimes teeth become stained. Call it life. We drink coffee and tea, we may smoke, we enjoy our red wine and we get older with subsequent increasingly yellow teeth. But all of this impacts on our teeth – and slowly our glorious smile loses its radiance.
How does it work?
Teeth whitening is a cost-effective way of dealing with a faded smile. Bleach solutions are applied to the teeth. The bleach then targets the stains on the teeth. If the bleach is simply targeting surface stains, the solution is left on the teeth for up to an hour. For other, harder to get to stains (internal, or on dead teeth), the bleach could actually be sealed into the tooth. Bleaching is very effective in most cases to whiten yellow teeth. But sometimes bleaching won’t work as well – particularly on stains that are more grey in colour.
What Mathee Dental Studio will do for you
We’ll undertake a dental exam, to see how bad the stains are. It may be that you don’t need to have your teeth whitened. If bleaching is the best option for you, we’ll help you choose the best whitening method (it could be at our practice or at your home).
We’re sometimes asked if teeth whitening is safe for your teeth. Studies show that it is indeed safe – although in some cases, your teeth may feel a little more sensitive after the bleaching. It’s our task to ensure that all the right precautions are taken to protect the roots of the teeth – while capturing a radiant smile.
